So I’ve been working on some new oil paintings as of late. Best way to get over this flu is to work and breath in noxious fumes created by the mineralspirits xp. This is a piece I’m working on for Modern Eden gallery next month. Enjoy the work in progress.
This was a piece that was simplified as I had a few days to create this piece and I had to make sure it was nothing offensive which is common when to creating public art. My original idea for the design was overly ambitious which would have needed a few weeks to finish, however I was very satisfied with this version.
Completely done in Adobe Illustrator, this piece made my workstation cry, I think the final output file was over 2gigs. I learned a LOT about illustrator working on this project and I am happy to have learned some new techniques. I get to see this piece on display with lots of other banners made by some really amazing artists here where I live, which is an honor to be part of.
This piece can be found on 7th street between Taylor and Jackson. For more information on the japantown mural project please Check out Resteroid Design’s link here:http://www.rasteroids.com/japantown-mural-project/?id=41
Yesterday while the students were working on their paintings I was quickly making my piece for the Exquisite Corpse show at the Kaleid Gallery which opens next saturday (July 14th from 7-10pm). I promised the students I would post the final version for them
this morning so they could see. So, here you go guys.
“Polluted Thoughts” 18×24″ Acrylic paint and watercolor.
piece shot with my cell phone. I will upload a better version soon.
Thank you to all of you who came down to last night’s fourth annual Subzero festival. A HUGE thank you to Cherri Lakey and Brian Eder for putting the whole event together, without those two, the city or San Jose would be a much more depressed city.I know a lot of people are/were out of the area and missed out on last night’s festivities , so here are some shots of the just some of the things I came across while walking the Sofa district. Also you’ll Find shots from Lacey Bryant’s amazing show “Tenuous Threads” which is going on all month at Anno Domini gallery (http://www.galleryad.com/) Enjoy the pics.
My Latest Illustration “Stuck In Limbo”is available in a limited Edition 12×18″ Giclee Canvas print. Only Five have been made. They are available directly through my Etsy Store:https://www.etsy.com/listing/101001559/stuck-in-limbo-limited-edition-12×18
So tonight is Robo Shop The group robot show at the Kaleid Gallery here in San Jose.
So for fun I have made 20 buttons which will never be reprinted just for the event. To score a button simply come up to me and tell me what my sculpture “X” is a loving nod to. If you guess correctly you score a button (as long as I still have some left).
The Sculpture is featured in this weeks Metro Paper. So if you are in the southbay please
check it out.
Besides the sculpture I have painted two new pieces this week for the show as well. So I do hope you come down to see the show. I do hope to see you.
So next Friday will be our next First Friday artwalk in San Jose. I will unveiling some new pieces at the Kaleid gallery for the Robo Shop show. One thing I’m excited about for this show
is this will be the first show ever which I have done some sculpture. To celebrate this piece that re-invigorated me I am offering free limited run button. If you can tell me what the sculpture is a reference to you score a button. I’ll be at Kaleid the whole evening so make sure you say hi and take aguess. It’s a pretty geeky reference, but if you get it you will score a VERY limited button. One which I will not be reprinting ever again.
Join us after Candlelight Yoga (5:30-6:45pm) as we open our doors to welcome the Art Walk patrons and the downtown community. Downtown Yoga Shala is proud to present featured artist Nadia Nasiri, a promising young self-taught photographer and avid yoga practitioner. Although this began as a personal hobby for her, Nadia’s intention with sharing her art is to inspire others to cultivate an appreciation for the natural world around us. Her special exhibit, Made in Nature, will feature nature photography and handmade crafts made with items found in nature exhibited in the gallery studio, and outdoor yoga self portraits taken with a tripod and timer or hand held remote in the studio hallway.
