New Public Art Box

This is the second piece of public art made the past month and a half. This is a commissioned piece done in San Jose at the Alameda/Hedding intersection. This is just one of many art boxes being created her in San Jose.
Check out the artbox map for more pieces (

Thank you to Tina Morrill, Cherri Lakey and the local neighborhoods for allowing me (and all the other artists) to make something for you.  This was a piece that I was hesitant at first to do, though now that it’s done I’m happy that it does feel different to what I had originally thought of doing.

However I now know with certainty that me and direct sunlight during the summer= BAAAD!

Because I love you, I took some shots during the process with my crummy cell phone camera, not the greatest shots, but I will shoot better pics shortly.

Work in progress

So I’ve been working on some new oil paintings as of late. Best way to get over this flu is to work and breath in noxious fumes created by the mineralspirits xp. This is a piece I’m working on for Modern Eden gallery next month. Enjoy the work in progress.

Matsuri No Oni

I was commissioned by Rasteroids Designs to make a 5.5×9 ft banner for Japan town to become a part of the community for the next few months +.

This was a piece that was simplified as I had a few days to create this piece and I had to make sure it was nothing offensive which is common when to creating public art. My original idea for the design was overly ambitious which would have needed a few weeks to finish, however I was very satisfied with this version.

Completely done in Adobe Illustrator, this piece made my workstation cry, I think the final output file was over 2gigs. I learned a LOT about illustrator working on this project and I am happy to have learned some new techniques. I get to see this piece on display with lots of other banners made by some really amazing artists here where I live, which is an honor to be part of.

This piece can be found on 7th street between Taylor and Jackson. For more information on the japantown mural project please Check out Resteroid Design’s link here:

Pics from last night’s Subzero Festival

Thank you to all of you who came down to last night’s fourth annual Subzero festival. A HUGE thank you to Cherri Lakey and Brian Eder for putting the whole event together, without those two, the city or San Jose would be a much more depressed city.I know a lot of people are/were out of the area and missed out on last night’s festivities , so here are some shots of the just some of the things I came across while walking the Sofa district. Also you’ll Find shots from Lacey Bryant’s amazing show “Tenuous Threads”  which is going on all month at Anno Domini gallery ( Enjoy the pics.
